I read the other day there is an old Indian legend that says “When a human dies there is a bridge they must cross to enter into Heaven. At the head of that bridge Awaits every animal that human encountered during their lifetime. The animals, based on what they know of this person, decide which humans may cross the bridge…and which are turned away.” When I read that passage I thought of all the animals that are sitting in a shelter today, waiting to be euthanized if they’re not adopted. I hope we’ll be judged by the animals we’ve helped through the RCHS, and those we can’t help will understand we’ve done the best we can. If you have room in your life please consider adopting a shelter animal. Every time a spot becomes available at our shelter an animal is brought in from a kill shelter, giving them a chance at life they wouldn’t have otherwise.
