The Tail Talk Dogs (and Cats)

Long awaited updated photos of the bubs and cats, including Purt, who crossed the rainbow bridge.  His life was short but his impact was great.  This updates our animals through 5/1/11, except for the outside cats, and they’re a little more difficult to photograph but I’ll work on it because they’re an important part of the Tail Talk family.

Budward, the original Tail Talk dog, with his Christmas toys, 2006

Every Christmas Santa brought the bubs new toys about the same time grandma visited the house for Christmas dinner (it’s funny how that worked out).  While everyone got excited, no one loved the toys as much as Budward did.  Except now that Action Jackson has come into our lives we believe Budward’s toys will not languish unloved and unattended as every time we put them away by the time we turn around they’re back in the living room.  And just like Budward, he is very particular about which toy he chooses from the pile.  We took two large boxes of soft toys to the shelter to share with the bubs that are still waiting for their forever homes.  Budward crossed the rainbow bridge August 13, 2009.
Girlie Sue, warrior princess, the only one that felt worthy of the chair

The bubbies that are my life

Everyone in the family laughs at this picture because Girlie Sue is the only one in the family that had big enough cahonas to get in my father-in-law’s chair.  It was the biggest, most comfortable chair in the room and apparently Girlie thought that should be the chair for her.  Jim was always a good sport about it, but the minute he got up she got right back in it.  Jim passed away November 29, 2008 and is sadly missed by all.

We too, have four canine kids. Our golden retriever, Cheyenne, we bought but our other three “kids” found us through rescue. We have a corgi-heeler mix, a very small beagle, and a black lab-retriever or border collie mix. No one makes us laugh as hard, or is as loyal as our pack. We have small, medium, large, and extra large!! Rescue dogs never stop being grateful for the home we have given them. Thanks for your column, I read it every week. I wish I could adopt all the ones who need a home and love.

I really appreciate the work you all do for the shelter dogs. My dogs found me they would show up at my house and were never turned away. I loved them all…they were my children. My last Blue Healer mix died suddenly and with my health being poor, I needed something easier than a puppy. I came to the shelter a couple times, but could not leave with just one dog, but knew I couldn’t do any more. We finally adopted a retired racing greyhound. She is wonderful, sweet and loving. If I could I would have a pack of shelter dogs, but for now I will settle for trying to help where I can, and taking good care of my baby girl. Thank You!
